Geometric CP violation with extra dimensions.

چکیده
We discuss how CP symmetry can be broken geometrically through orbifold projections in hidden extra dimensions in the context of brane-bulk models for particle unifications. The CP violation arises from a crash between the geometry of the compactification and the original higher dimensional CP definition. We present toy models to illustrate the idea and suggest ways to incorporate it into more realistic models.

Spontaneous CP violation model with flavor symmetry in large extra dimensions
We construct the minimal SUSY model that causes spontaneous CP violation with an abelian flavor symmetry in the context of the large extra dimensions and show that various physical scales can be easily unified. We also realize the realistic size of the CP violation and the small masses of the neutrinos. The strong CP problem can be solved by the axion scenario and the axion can be made invisibl...
متن کاملSpontaneous CP Violation in Large Extra Dimensions
We show that in the context of large extra dimensions enough CP violation can be obtained from the spontaneous breaking in a simple non-SUSY model, which is usually considered not to cause the spontaneous CP violation. We estimate ǫK in our scenario to be of order 10 −3 consistent with the experimental value. We also propose a modification to the see-saw mechanism and axion scenario to match wi...
متن کاملSequestering CP Violation and GIM-Violation with Warped Extra Dimensions
We propose a model of spontaneous CP violation to address the strong CP problem in warped extra dimensions that relies on sequestering flavor and CP violation. We assume that brane-localized Higgs Yukawa interactions respect a U(3) flavor symmetry that is broken only by bulk fermion mass and Yukawa terms. All CP violation arises from the vev of a CP-odd scalar field localized in the bulk. To su...
متن کاملSplit Fermions in Extra Dimensions and CP Violation
We discuss CP violation in the quark sector within a novel approach to the Yukawa puzzle proposed by Arkani-Hamed and Schmaltz, where Yukawa hierarchies result from localising the Standard Model quark field wave-functions, at different positions (in the extra dimensions) in a “fat-brane.” We show that at least two extra dimensions are necessary in order to obtain sufficient CP violation, while ...
متن کاملModels for Geometric CP Violation with Extra Dimensions
In a recent paper, two of us (D.C. and R.N.M.) proposed a new way to break CP symmetry geometrically using orbifold projections. The mechanism can be realized in the five dimensional brane bulk picture. In this paper, we elaborate on this proposal and provide additional examples of models of this type. We also note the phenomenological implications of some of these models.
